A gray squirrel clutches his acorn like a treasure, after digging through the fall leaves to find just the spot where he had hid it earlier! This is a painting that I revamped after not being pleased with the original background. I have been experimenting with combining more realistic paintings of wildlife with bright, bold stylized backgrounds, and I updated this painting to match this new approach. The acorn and some of the leaves are also accented in metallic tones.

I began painting in 2015, and my very first subject was my dog, Smudge.
