This is the first version of Buried Treasure, which conceptually is really the second version. Originally, I had planned to have the squirrel completely surrounded by leaves. But then I got bored with painting leaves! The deep purple and burgundy colors felt like pirate colors to me, and the gold stripe added to the pirate imagery.
Hello, and thank you for visiting! I really appreciate that you took the time to not only view my artwork, but also wanted to learn more about me, the artist - wow! I began painting in 2015, and my very first subject was my dog, Smudge. Which seems appropriate, since he is a dachshund and many of the great artists such as Picaso and Andy Warhol have owned and painted the dachshunds they adored!
